WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A BARTENDER?
The people I work with: Gorge, Damien and Indra. These guys introduced the industry to me, I had no idea what it could offer and once I saw how they work, the creativity and passion that goes into everything they make, I felt inspired to pursue it as a career for myself.
WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCE?
Cara Devine and Emma Cookson are absolute wealths of knowledge in the industry that are always willing to share their expertise with anyone interested. I find that incredibly admirable and is who I aspire to be. Otherwise every competition I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of I always left feeling so inspired, there is so much creativity in the industry which provides endless inspiration anywhere you look.
Cocktail
The hero cocktail
Claremont Cuppa
Sweetly spiced and a little bitter. I crafted a cocktail that is sweetly spiced and a little bitter following my visiting to the Beam Distillery in Claremont, home of Basil Hayden. I experienced such warm and welcoming Kentucky hospitality from the moment I started my day, bourbon-spiked coffee in hand.
Ingredients
Basil Hayden
Orange rind PX Sherry
Wattleseed filtered Coffee (concentrate)
Ginger & brown sugar syrup
Burnt cola cream floated on the top

The 18th Amendment Bar
The 18th Amendment is a prohibition-style cocktail bar where I have worked for the last 4 years. I started off as the host but last year I wanted to challenge myself so I started learning how to bartend.
In Prohibition-era Chicago, cocktails were crafted to disguise the taste of alcohol from snooping policemen. The bars were hidden in basements and the front doors remained shut, but even so, every drink was paired with the exhilaration that the hideout could be discovered at any moment.
18th Amendment is one cocktail bar that has managed to replicate this feeling. While the bright red door is unlikely to ward off any curious cop, the green-velvet couches, old-school wallpaper, and shelves of antique memorabilia feel like a step backward in time. This place is authentic and raw: everything and everyone seems to be moving a little bit quicker, the music a little bit louder, and the cocktails are always flowing fast.
